It’s February!

Hello! It has been a while since I published here! I hope to be able to put more time into writing more to keep you informed and entertained!

As most of you know, I am back to teaching in the classroom and it has basically consumed the majority of my time since September. While I am still designing and testing patterns continuously, I have had to put on some plans for a crochet along on the back burner. I usually like to host at least 2 a year, and I will keep you updated on when I will be able to start one.

February brings with it one of my favorite holidays: President’s Day! Just kidding. Valentine’s Day! I have always been a fan of the day of love even though for many of them, I was either single, or with some toad. I still celebrated and tried to spread love with homemade gifts and cards to family and friends. Once I met my husband, it feels like we celebrate love every day…and this is after 15 years together! Sappy, I know.

Two of the first deigns I published were Cupid’s Arrow and Mosaic Hearts. I had to tell myself to stop designing so many projects with hearts in them so I could start adding a variety of patterns that first year I started designing. The slideshow below shows some of my favorite heart designs, including one I dedicated to my grandmother: Quilted Love. I combined our love of quilting and crochet into overlay mosaic as shown in grey and pink.

This brings us to this year’s Valentine’s collection: Animal Hearts Series. 7 of 12 tiles have been published so far with plans to publish the rest this coming weekend! When I was thinking about Valentine’s Day back in December, I decided I wanted to recreate these specific cards I remember receiving when I was in elementary school. The cards depicted a variety of animals holding a heart that had corny sayings on them and alluded to the animal on the card. They just seem so retro 80s- which is my favorite decade- that I had to try and recreate what I remembered. Though I stopped at 12, I am finding it really difficult to move on to other designs I have working because I have so many other animals I’d like to draw!

So far, the published patterns include: Cat: Meow and Furever; Dog: I Woof You; Rabbit: Some Bunny Loves You; Pig: Hogs and Kisses; Frog: You Make me Hoppy; Bear: You’re Beary Special; and Raccoon: You Stole My Heart. That leaves 5! What do you think they could be?! Check out the pics below to see pics from me and my testers for the published patterns. And there is a sneak peak of an upcoming release or 2!
